Crank

In this case, I am going to design a crank which has a similar shape as mine. It is from a bike, so It has to bear about 1000 N (weight= 100 kg and gravity 9,81N/m^2).
It is made up of aluminium alloy known as Aluminium 6061 T6. According to the experts, this alloy and Aluminium 7005 are the most used for making some parts of the bicycles.

One of the keys for the mechanical design is the yield strength which is 2,76*10^8 N/m^2 for Aluminium 6061 T6.






The support is in the square how you can see in this picture

The force is applied to 75 mm (in the middle of a handle) from crank.



Here you can see the stress . The worst stress is 2,63*10^8 wich is smaller than 2,76*10^8 N/m^2 (yield strength)

I want to show you a video which you can see the mesh for this piece and the moviment too.





Finally, I would like to explain that we should design this kind of items thoroughly because they must be enough strength but they have to be light too.
